Apple Season Recipes - Homeowners - Counselor Realty

With the fall months upon us, it's an excellent time to visit a local apple orchard for fresh apples to try all your favorite apple recipes. After spending an afternoon shopping for Edina homes for sale or Glenwood homes for sale, spend a few hours enjoying one of the most popular autumn flavors. Here are a few kid-friendly apple recipes to try this apple season.

  • Apple Rings
Apple rings are a delicious snack, and it only takes a few minutes to make them.

Core the apple, and slice it into 1/4-inch wide rings. Then, invite your kids to decorate their rings using their favorite toppings, like peanut butter, cream cheese, marshmallow fluff, caramel, raisins, crushed Oreos, chocolate chips, and peanuts.

Each child can customize their apple rings, so they fit their tastes.

  • Microwaved Apple Crisp
Apple crisp is delicious on its own or paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or dollop of whipped cream.

The following recipe makes one serving. Peel one apple and slice it into thin pieces. Mix the apple pieces with 1/2 tablespoon of melted butter, a teaspoon of brown sugar, a teaspoon of flour, and a 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon; this makes the apple filling.

To make the crisp, combine two tablespoons of softened butter with three tablespoons of oats, one tablespoon of flour, one tablespoon of brown sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon.

Place a layer of apples in a microwave-safe bowl or cup, followed by a layer of crisp. Repeat until you use all the apple filling and crisp. Microwave for 3 minutes and immediately enjoy.

If you prefer to use the oven, bake in a ramekin at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

  • Crockpot Applesauce
Crockpot applesauce is easy to make and delicious to eat. Grab six medium apples, peel them, and cut them into chunks. Put them in the crockpot, and add 1/3 cup of water, 1/2 cup of sugar, and 3/4 teaspoon of cinnamon. Cook on low for eight hours.

If you prefer chunky applesauce, you can eat your applesauce as is. To create smoother applesauce, blend it using a blender until it reaches your desired consistency.

  • Apple Smiles
Apple smiles are cute and simple for even young children to make. Cut an apple into slices; you'll use two slices for the "lips."

Spread peanut butter, caramel, or cream cheese on one of the slices and add mini marshmallows, chocolate candy, candy corn, gummy candy, or yogurt bites to be the "teeth." Top with another apple slice to complete the smile.

  • Stewed Apples
Warm stewed apples are the perfect autumn side or dessert. They're also extremely simple to make and taste better than anything you can buy from a store.

Grab four to six apples, and chop them into 1-inch pieces. Depending on your preferences, you can remove the skin or leave it on. Combine the apples and a cup of apple cider in a pot.

Heat the mixture using high heat until it reaches a boil, then reduce the heat to medium. Simmer for 10 minutes or until the apples are soft when you poke them with a fork. Add 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon and enjoy!

Fall is a terrific time to try different apple recipes with your kids. Interested in looking for a home with more space for your family? Call today to get started.
