Easy Painting Projects - Home Improvement - Counselor Realty

When you're ready to list your home with other Bemidji homes for sale, it's important for your home to look its best to appeal to potential buyers. Check out a few painting projects that will enhance the appearance of your home.

  1. Paint Your Fireplace's Mantle
A mantle is a gorgeous addition to any fireplace, but it can get lost when it's the same hue as the room's other surfaces. Before you add your home to the inventory of Brainerd homes for sale, plan a quick paint project to turn your fireplace into a strong selling point. Consider painting the mantle a shade that contrasts with the color of your fireplace and other room areas. For example, if you have a whitewashed fireplace and light walls, paint the mantle a bold, bright hue to serve as the focal point and add color to the room. Or, if your fireplace is black or dark gray, a light gray or white mantle will look amazing against the dark color.
  1. Change the Color of Your Stairs
Stairs are usually painted a color that complements the home's original style. However, a home's style often evolves, and the stair's old color might not be the best option for your home. Transform the look of your stairs by painting the handrails and banisters. A black hue looks classic in any home, while white helps the space look clean and modern.
  1. Overhaul Your Home's Built-In Features
If you feel like your home's built-in details look dated or out-of-place, a paint job will overhaul the look of the entire room. Painting your built-ins a light color can also help a room look larger and brighter.

  2. Use Paint to Define Different Zones in a Single Room
When you have a room with multiple functions, it can look cluttered instead of efficient and functional. Give the room a more streamlined appearance by painting some of the walls or areas a slightly different color. This adds depth to the room and helps define spaces while maintaining a cohesive look. If your living room functions as a family area and a home office, you might paint the walls in the family portion of the room a dark hue and paint the wall that houses your workstation a slightly lighter shade.
  1. Make the Room Look Larger by Extending the Wall Color to the Ceiling
The ceiling is an oversight for many homeowners, but it can be valuable for making a small room appear larger and brighter. When you paint your ceiling the same color as your walls, this draws the eye upward, giving the illusion of a bigger space and higher ceilings. This trick works best in a room with a lot of natural light. You can use light or dark colored paint for this project, but some home designers believe that dark hues are more effective at making the room look bigger.

A simple paint project can dramatically affect your home's aesthetic. Ready to put your home on the market? Call today to get started!
